We all know that, Nollywood is one of the biggest movie industry in the world (I wasn’t the one that conducted the poll though). *adjusts my seat* So, I compiled a list of upcoming actresses in the Yoruba movie industry, according to the movies I saw (English movie list will come up soon).
These young ladies are not only beautiful, they are also educated, talented and hardworking. See the list (Part 1) below….

Tayo Sobola aka Sotayo
The producer of ‘Arewa Onijogbon’ ‘Corper Jide’ and ‘Bella’ is one actress who have been able to carve a niche for herself in the movie industry in such a short time (abi na long time). *sips juice*
The Olabisi Onabanjo University graduate is one of the few actresses who shuttle between acting in English and Yoruba movies, but her exceptional role in Yoruba movies cannot be swept under the carpet (that is why she is on this list).
The light skinned actress ended the year 2014 on a good note when she bought herself a new range rover in December, just few days before her talk of the town 2-1 event (movie premiere and birthday party).
Sheyi Ashekun
The Mass Communication graduate of Babcock University won the Best Actress in leading role at the Best of Nollywood Awards held few months back.
One thing that makes Sheyi Ashekun stand out among her peers is the fact that, she does bring her A-game to the table anytime she is playing a role in a movie. One of the reasons why I love watching her movies is because, she has never disappointed me. You will agree with me if you have seen Aranbada and Fifehanmi (both movies produced by her), she did not disappoint her fans (especially me) from the start to finish. Sheyi Ashekun is the next big thing in the Yoruba movie industry.

Joke Jigan
Although the name Joke may not ring a bell to some people, but frequent Yoruba movie lovers will know Joke Jigan, especially if you have seen Aturota, Aworan Ife and some of the movies produced by her, like, Idoti, Ikoko and Bisola Beyonce.
The Lagos State University graduate was recently nominated for her exceptional contribution to the movie industry as Best Upcoming Actress at the just concluded Yoruba Heritage Awards here in the United States.

Arike Akinyanju
Arike Akinyanju is an upcoming actress and a student of English Language at the Tai Solarin University of Education. And she started her acting career under Adebayo Tijani tutelage.
If there is one thing I like about this dark skinned actress who was trained by one of the best movie directors in the industry, it’s the fact that she deliver her lines well in movies and she work with the confidence of a professional.
I have seen her acting prowess in few movies like, Iyawo Osun, Kudi Klepto, Ajijagbara, Adajo Aye, and her exceptional role in Eyinju Eledumare blew me over the roof top (she is a good actress). I hope producers call her for more jobs because of her unique talent.

Folasade Olona
Folasade Olona is an undergraduate of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State. She combines her education with acting, script writing and movie production.
Even though I have seen her in many movies before now, her role in Alakada (a movie produced by Toyin Aimakhu) caught my attention (she so tongue lashed Toyin in that movie ehn…lol).
Folasade have also featured in movies like, Aranbada, Imisi Esu, Aiyekoto, Aiye mi and Omo ElemoshoIfe Otitoand Omope.
The upcoming actress and movie producer who started her acting career under AdebayoTijani tutelage is another actress to watch out for in 2015.
P.S
The concluding list will be published soon.
