Senate Won’t Resume Plenary Session Yet, Says Confirmation Of Service Chiefs Not Urgent

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed that they won’t resume their plenary session before the original scheduled date because of the confirmation of the newly appointed service chiefs.

This was according to The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, in an interview with The Punch newspaper yesterday.

He said the lawmakers went on recess to also attend to other issues of national importance.

In his words: “The senate will not cut short its recess to confirm the new service chiefs. There is nothing urgent about it.

The National Assembly postponed its resumption to enable our colleagues participate in an exercise which is also of national importance.”
