Nigeria’s former finance minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has emerged as the first female Director General of the World Trade Organization according to Arise News.
Okonjo-Iweala made it to the final round of the selection process alongside Yoo Myung-hee, the first South-Korean Minister of finance.
She reportedly pulled a total of 104votes from the 164 member countries of the WTO.
An official statement is expected from WTO to confirm the appointment shortly.
