Nigerian singer and rapper, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has begged his colleagues to join him in making Afrobeats “great again”.
He stated this in a post on X, writing, “Anyways let’s make afrobeat great again.”
Naira Marley’s appeal comes as he aims to regain his position as one of the top Afrobeats artists after facing cancel culture following accusations of involvement in his former signee, Mohbad’s death.
A court recently dismissed Mohbad’s father’s suit against Naira Marley and his associate Sam Larry, stating that there was insufficient evidence to link them directly to the death.
Recall that Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae recently claimed that the global momentum of Afrobeats has stalled.
She insisted that Afrobeats, and African music in general, needs to evolve.
