Press Release/Oodua Image Awards 2016!

Yoruba Youth Corporation (YYC) North America, the umbrella body of all Yoruba youth groups in North America, an organization which was founded 2008 in Detroit, Michigan to promote peace and unity among Yoruba Youths in North America. The organization has also been promoting inter-generational understanding between the old and younger generation, through its annual youth convention tagged National Yoruba Youth Convention since 2008.

The Yoruba Youth Corporation (YYC) is an organization for young people whose aim is to promote the Yoruba heritage by creating an environment for peer to peer interaction.

The organization in the past partnered with Osun East Senatorial District under the leadership of Senator Babajide Omoworare for Youth Cultural Exchange in Southfield, Michigan.

In 2011 Yoruba Youth Corporation collaborated with Lagos State Government and Olamild Entertainment under the administration of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to give back to the community through project Back2School by giving needy student school supplies and materials.

Some of the achievements of the organization include, introduction of Yoruba Language in colleges in the U.S and Canada, provision of employment and community volunteer opportunity for the youths, facilitation of exchange/partnership program, which has provided opportunities for youths in Nigeria to interact and network with their mates in diaspora, just to mention a few

The Oodua Image Awards 2015 was well attended and attracted top dignitaries from Nigeria and United States, it was attended by our Royal Grand Patron the late Ooni of Ife; Oba Okunade Sijuwade who was represented by Oba Adebolu Fatunmishe the Adagba of Iyanfoworogi, Aare Bolu Omodele the National President Egbe Omo Yoruba North America, Attorney Olu-McGuinnis Chairman Moremi Foundation. Also artists from Nigeria includes ace actor Muyiwa Ademola, Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje), Moji Olaiya, Laide Bakare, Adedimeji Lateef, Queen Tope Oluwa and many others.

We are proud to announce once again that Yoruba Youth Corporation (YYC) will be hosting the second edition of Oodua Image Awards 2016 live in Houston, Texas in the month of October

Some of the events lined up during the convention includes, ASA Night, Cultural Exhibition, Fashion show, Dance drama, lectures from prominent Yoruba Scholars and elders, Interactive sessions between successful members of the community and our guests, the Dinner & Award Night and a hosts of other fun entertaining and educative events.
It is a known fact that the government alone cannot be saddled with the tasks of Nation building and community development, everybody has a role to play especially those who are based in diaspora, and we all have roles to play in ensuring that Yoruba race at large continues to set the pace.
