AirAsia Flight From Indonesia To Singapore Goes Missing With 162 People On Board

According to several reports,
Flight QZ8501, an AirAsia plane with 155 passengers, two pilots and five cabin crew on board travelling from Indonesia to Singapore lost contact with the ground control on Sunday morning while flying over the Java sea.

The plane was said to have disappeared two hours into a three-hour flight.

An official with the transport ministry, Hadi Mustofa, told local media that the plane lost contact over the Java Sea, between the islands of Kalimantan and Java. “The flight lost communication with Jakarta’s air traffic control at 7.24am Singapore time (2324 GMT Saturday) about an hour before it was scheduled to land in Singapore.”

The Indonesian military planes are currently searching an area in the Java sea.

Singapore air force and navy are also searching with two C-130 planes.

This is the third tragic incident for the Malaysia aviation in one year. First, Flight MH370

disappeared on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March with 239 passengers and crew. The wreckage, thought to be in southern Indian Ocean, has still not been located.

Then, MH17 was shot down over Ukraine in July, killing all 298 on board. Now, it’s the AirAsia plane with 162 people on board, including two pilots and fiveca bin crew..
