The Islamist extremists group, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the attacks on rice farmers on Saturday morning according to a report on BBC.
The group also revealed that they killed 78 farmers contrary to the report of the military that only 43 dead bodies were recovered.
The ugly incident which happened in a Zabarmari, near Maiduguri also saw some farmers kidnapped as well.
The incident has seen the calls from Nigerians for the Service Chiefs to be sacked and even for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
