Cleveland To Release the Video Of Police Shooting Of 12-Year-old Boy Today

It’s so sad that shooting young and vibrant youth has become the order of the day. When you turn on the TV to watch the weather condition or something, the next thing you see on TV is, different killings going on across the globe especially across the country. Who can we blame for all these? That still remains a puzzle to be solved by either nature or the citizens themselves.

According to several reports, Cleveland today (Wednesday) will release surveillance video showing the police shooting of a 12-year-old boy (Tamir Rice) who was killed after allegedly reaching for what turned out to be a fake gun. Authorities announced these at a community meeting on Tuesday, November 25.

The family of Tamir Rice, who was shot by police on Saturday November 22, and died on Sunday, November 23,  had earlier demanded that the video be released. Police initially refused, calling the recording evidence in an investigation. But officials at Tuesday night’s meeting reversed course and announced they will release the footage at 1 p.m. today (according to reports)
Tamir Rice was reportedly at the Cudell Recreation Center in Cleveland on Saturday when he was shot dead right there at the park at 3:30 p.m.
Police said he refused to raise his hands and reached for what looked like a handgun tucked in his waistband. Which was the reason why they fired the shot.
The gun turned out to be a pellet gun that police said had its orange safety indicator removed and looked like a real firearm. Police say the boy never pointed the gun at the officers or threatened to shoot them. The two police officers involved have been placed on 3-days paid leave while investigation is underway.
