From A Blogger’s Desk: Rise Above The Clouds

As I sat in the window seat of the United Airlines Expressjet, my mind drifted off to the dream land (while awake).

If you know me so well, you will know that I love travelling by air a lot (ajala) and I love taking the window seats during any of my trips because, it gives me the opportunity to reflect on so many things while looking out the window (no blame me, na because I love sight seeing).

Being in the air gives me more time to appreciate the works of God (not because I don’t appreciate it before now but because when am in the sky I feel like am closer to heaven *straight face*).
My plane took off from Houston airport runway barely 5min after I checked in through the security. As we ascend into the sky, I said a little word of prayer and asked God to protect us as we embark on our less than an hour journey back to Dallas.
As the plane took off and soared into the sky above the clouds in the midst of turbulence, my mind drifted to the situation of life so many of us go through everyday. There and then I took out my iPad and started putting down my thoughts in writing.
One thing I noticed is that, whenever the plane rises above the clouds, it is usually faced with turbulence, but that doesn’t stop the plane from flying and it doesn’t mean the pilot would turn back and go back to where we are coming from.
Pilots are always determined to fly a plane and land it at its planned destination even in the midst of the most dangerous or chaotic turbulence (kudos to all the pilots in the world *I wish I could fly a plane*). They do this, not because they want to perish or make other people perish, but because they are always determined to rise above difficulties (turbulence or storm) and get to their destination come what may.

Often times, we human do not take matters these way, most of us are easily affected by every little storm that comes our way on our journey to success. We tend to look at the present situation while we ignore the end result.
As I looked out my window and saw how beautiful it is outside (above the clouds), I smiled and went back to my iPad. At this point, the voice of the air hostess brought me back to reality, as she asked if she could get me something to drink. I smiled and told her I would like some orange juice. She handed me my juice and proceeded to the next passenger.

Did I mention that I was by myself at my corner and the other 2 seats on the other side was occupied by two guys; one of them buried himself in his novel, while the other one snored away to another dreamland. Different stroke for different folks right?
I went back to my writing again, not without looking out the window for the upteenth time. No matter what you are going through at the moment, be patient in the middle of the storm and I am convinced that you will not only smile at the end of your storm but you will laugh a laughter of joy. All it require is for you to be PATIENT, PRAYERFUL and PERSISTENT (3 P’s).

Learn to approach your storm like an eagle. Eagles love the storm. When clouds gather, the eagles get excited. They use the storm’s wind to go higher while other birds hide and perches on the branches of the trees. The storm gives the eagle an opportunity to glide and rest its wings.

We can use the storms to rise to greater heights if we persevere.

I looked out the window again as we encountered another turbulence in the clouds, and I didn’t look away until the air hostess came back to take our empty cups away (I had barely touched the cup at this time). I took two sips from the cup and emptied the rest in the trash bag she held in front of me. Then I concluded my writing and closed my ipad to get ready for landing.
After all said and done, cloudy sky, bumpy roads, storms, and turbulence are inevitable; they all are nature’s best ally. So the more we learn to rise above them, the happier we would be.

Thank God it’s Friday! Have a lovely day folks.
