Yoruba Nollywood actress, Bimbo Thomas recently granted an interview with Encomium and she opened up on why she has been absent from the screen, her take on how large actors are living and her alleged romance with M.C Oluomo. Read excerpt from the interview below…
Movies are no longer selling, yet most of you actresses are living large, what do you do that your male counterparts don’t?
Who says movies are no longer selling? Movies are still selling but we actors are being cheated. The royalties are meagre compared to the activity, only God has been sustaining us.
On the other hand, should we say we are living large? I don’t think so. We are only trying to level compared to our status.
As I said, if you could aim at the sky, you would reach the tree-top, but if you aim the tree-top, you may never leave the ground. So, be it the male actor or the female actor, if you follow the manual of a successful life, you would be successful among the odds; there is no magic to it.
It seems you are not featured in many movies this time around, why?
First, I’ve not been very much around tending to my other businesses. Second, I detest being part of movies that could bring down my reputation, so I return scripts of recalcitrant producers. Not because of pride but a stand for quality.
Would you say you have recorded a tremendous success in 10 years you have been in the industry?
Sure! Where I am right now is 10 times where I was 10 years ago. All glory to God but I still want to I’m not yet fulfilled. Where I am striving to be in 2016 must be 16 times greater than 2015. This is my plan and with God, all things are possible.
There is a tale of romance between you and MC Oluomo, what is the truth about that?
I keep saying this, it’s not close to the truth. It is nothing but a defamatory allegation. Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, a.k.a. MC Oluomo is a respected brother, a dignified friend and a caring godfather. He appreciates me and I give it to him too. So, how come about the fictitious tale?
