American ‘Scandal’ TV Series star actress, Kerry Washington revealed her Igbo name in a recent interview with InStyle Magazine. (She is one of my best TV series actresses, Love me some Olivia Pope *her character name in the TV series*)
The beautiful actress who is married to former NFL star, Nnamdi Asomugha explained how she got her Igbo name,
“Nnamdi’s parents are Nigerian immigrants, he’s father died when he was young. When you marry into the igbo culture, you get a new name. My name is ogechi. I wear it on a necklace my mother-in-law gave me.”
She also explained the meaning of her daughter’s name:
“My daughter’s name is Isabelle Amarachi. Isabelle’s is my grandmother’s name. She was a badass. she’d be scowling if she knew i called her that’ but she was an immigrant from Jamaica who raised seven children alone in the bronx. Isabelle’s igbo name Amarachi, It means ‘GOD’S GRACE’.”
