“My Dad Wanted Me To Be A Medical Doctor” – Singer Femi Solar

The name Femi Solar may not ring a bell to many, but I can say authoritatively that the Nigerian Gospel Juju Musician has been around for a while.

Femi in a recent interview with SunNewsOnline talked about his journey into music, his relationship with his female fans, the hassles of upcoming artiste and so on. Read excerpt from his interview with Fatunmise Damilola below…

If not music, what would you have ventured into?
If not music, maybe I would have ventured into medicine because my daddy wanted me to be a medical doctor but as fate will have it, here I am today.
You sing so much like Yinka Ayefele, did you train under him?
Though I didn’t train under Ayefele who I call my father but he still remains  a big inspiration to my music. It was his brother who is now in London that trained me.  He taught me how to produce jingles and adverts and  I ventured into it immediately he left for London. That was what helped me to finance my university education. I studied Accountancy.
How do you handle your female fans?

I love my female fans so much I seize any opportunity to get close to them. Women appreciate music more than  men. However, I love all my fans whether male or female. I am a well disciplined man and I don’t joke with my integrity so I take time to make sure that I am very okay with my female fans.
What is your take on the Nigerian music industry?

The Nigeria music industry is a rough terrain. It is not very encouraging because we have too many haters. They don’t really encourage up-and-coming  artistes. Rather, they envy you and put you down unlike what obtains in other climes.  The last time I was in America, London and South Africa on tour I was welcomed with great love. Another problem we have in Nigeria is that our government is not encouraging the entertainment industry especially the music sector. To read more, follow this Link
