PDP Crisis: ‘Nobody Will Live Forever’ – Bode George Warns Party Leaders

Ahead of efforts to reconcile the party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Chief Bode George has reminded those involved in the party’s crisis that they are mere mortals and should not behave as if they are superhumans.

Bode George went further to describe leaders as waste bins, saying they must bear in mind that no one lasts forever in a particular position.

As the 2027 general election draws closer and political parties plan to commence their primaries, the PDP is in a rush to put its house in order.

One of the moves being made is to reconcile the two warring factions to enable those who want to run for positions on the party’s platform do so without the fear of litigation.

However, one of the major challenges the reconciliation might face is that the faction backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, believes in an outright second term for President Bola Tinubu, while the Kabiru Turaki-led side has vowed to field a viable candidate for the presidency.

The Wike side has made it clear that the PDP would not be fielding a presidential candidate in the next election and there are feelers that they would demand that Turaki and his group endorse President Bola Tinubu as a condition for reconciliation.

Speaking on Arise News, Bode George reminded the politicians and leaders that they are here for just for a period of time “and your interest lies on that definition of democracy or governance, that you will be able to vote for a man who will get into that government and utilize the resources of the land for your benefit.

“Nobody with personal interest will live healthily forever. If you think you are deceiving us, and you come with all kinds of… we will see it. I’m appealing to them on all sides.

“Leaders are like a dustbin. If you think because you are president, or you are governor, or you are this or that, you cannot be touched.

“And we are human beings. We all went to school. We will see the points of engagement. We will lay our own argument.

We thank God that some of the founding fathers are still alive today to remind us of the purpose for which PDP was established.”
