Photos: Thousands Of South Africans Form Guard Of Honor As Body Of Former President Nelson Mandela Was Taken To Lie In State

Thousands of South Africans have lined the streets in a guard of honour as the body of Nelson Mandela was transported through Pretoria to lie in state.
His remains will be moved each day, for three days, between the Military Hospital in Pretoria to the Government’s Union Buildings.
The public has been invited to line the procession route on each occasion.

The service will be held at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square from 10.30am at the request of the South African High Commission, feet away from the church.
The two share strong links and were the scene of freedom vigils for Mr Mandela during his incarceration.
Speaking at the service will be Sir Sydney Kentridge QC and Lord Joffe of Lidington, who both represented Mr Mandela at his treason trials, and campaigner and African National Congress veteran Mama Thembi Nobhadula.

Thousands of people are expected to pay their respects to their former leader over the next few days, before his burial on Sunday in his rural childhood village of Qunu in Eastern Cape Province.
