The Concerned Indigenes of Ijebuland have taken notice of a purported article written by one Monday Mishau, which findings have shown to be a pseudonym used by mischievous elements to launch attacks on the office of the Olisa of Ijebu Ode.
*The Olisa’s Ancient Stool*
The Olisa of Ijebu Ode is a recognized traditional ruler with a rich history and tradition. The ancestor of the Olisa, Oluiye Okuwa Obanla Ajagemo, was originally the Crowned traditional ruler; Olu-Isa (Olisa) of Isa kingdom known in various names before finally called Oke-Imesi in Ekiti State and jointly embarked on the historic journey that culminated in their settlement in Ijebuland with the first Awujale of Ijebuland, HRM Oba Sokanlu Ogborangannija.
*The Roles of the Olisa*
The Olisa plays four special traditional roles:
1. Traditional Ruler of Ijebu-Ode.
2. Regent at the demise or vacancy of an Awujale
3. Head of the Ilamuren of Ijebuland
4. Head of Kingmakers of the Awujale
*Condemnation of Attacks*
We condemn in strong terms the futile and shameful display of crass immaturity being displayed by sponsors of the ongoing fraudulent and sacrilegious attacks on the person and office of the Olisa, aimed at promoting the Ogbeni Oja beyond his actual historical status.
That anyone or group could read baseless undertone to the former Governor of Ogun State and the incumbent Senator Representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and other members of the Ijebu Community including the four Ruling Houses of the Awujale, Ijębu-Ode Baale In Council, the Council of Otunbas and Chiefs, the Osugbos, Asokutes, Iwaro Ekun, Market women and youth leaders’ condolence visits to the the Olisa of Ijebu Ode by to condone with the palace and Ijebuland for the demise of our great monarch, Awujale Sikiru Olukayode Adetona GCON Ogbagba II, in line with ancient custom and traditions smacks of deceit and sheer mischief.
*Call to Government*
We call on the Ogun State Government to continue its good works and be aware of the shenanigans of unscrupulous elements attempting to turn the administration of Ijebuland during vacancy into a political contest rather than in accordance with tradition.
*Support for the Olisa*
The people of Ijebu Ode stand solidly behind the Olisa and will not allow the overambition of few foreign elements to disrupt the existing peace of Ijebuland.
