The recent activities on social media have made me realize that a lot of people are covering up deep wounds with makeup and plastic smiles. Take a look around you, when last have you seen a genuine smile on the faces of most people. A lot of people are now easily irritated by other people’s post, and since they can’t reach them physically, they either troll them or call them out on fabricated lies. Back to my headline question. Since I took a ‘Nepa light’ break from writing on the blog, I recently focused more on writing and producing my stories for screens like YouTube and cable channels. I went ahead to follow a long term dream of being a filmmaker. As at the time I am writing this article, I have produced twenty (20) movies and they are all self funded. Has it been easy? Not really. Being a self funding producer is quite challenging, especially when some people see you as a means to cash out since they have nothing to lose if you go broke. Like my Yoruba people would say, ‘The flood does not say it would not destroy a house, it is the owner of the house that will not allow its excesses.’
I am happy to let you all know that despite all the challenges, a few of my movies are now showing on cable channels like DsTv’s Africa Magic Yoruba channel, and OrisunTv owned by Virtual Media Network. We recently released a new movie, Eniolorunda 1&2 on YouTube, and we are also planning to release Arike and Owara Ojo before the year runs; the two are submitted to a YouTube channel for reviews, their release dates will be determined afterwards. 2023 has been a very busy and amazing year, we pray and hope to have more amazing and sensational stories to produce and sell in 2024. Amen to that.
