
Lagos State Authorities, by the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, has granted amnesty to 21 inmates from numerous correctional amenities within the State.
The inmates have been launched on Tuesday, March 22.
The train is pursuant to the provisions of Part 212 (1) (2) of the 1999 Structure (amended) which empowers the Governor to train Prerogative of Mercy.
Lagos Legal professional and Commissioner Of Justice,Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, who was represented by the Solicitor Basic and Everlasting Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Ms. Titilayo Shitta-bey, disclosed this on the ministry’s convention room whereas handing over the order for the discharge of the inmates signed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to the Correctional Service Authorities.
Onigbanjo mentioned that the discharge of the inmates was according to the dedication of the current administration within the State to Justice Sector Reforms by decongestion of the Correctional amenities.
“This train will supply a second probability to the inmates in hopes that they may change their methods and be re-absolved seamlessly into the society.”
In his remarks, Deputy Controller of Prisons, Lagos Command, A.O Aremu recommended the State Governor for his efforts at de-congesting prisons throughout the State noting that the sort gesture will bestow succor and hope to the beneficiaries.
