Veteran Nollywood actor Roy De Nani has discussed both the personal hardships he has faced throughout his life and his traumatic experiences in the film industry.
The actor claimed on the “Where is the lie” podcast that he was unofficially barred from playing roles at one point in his career.
“A man gave an order that nobody should give Roy De Nani a job again,” he said. For years, a producer would walk in and tell me, “No, cancel it. Stop,” even if I was already recording.
Recalling the anguish of losing his brother, Roy De Nani claimed that he had no assistance from Nollywood actors or actresses during this period.
“My brother and I share the same father. He said that not a single actor or actress was present when he passed away.
The seasoned actor went on to say that he later experienced an even more terrible loss when his daughter and son passed away because he was unable to pay for the critical blood transfusions they need.
He said that the kids had sickle cell disease and needed frequent transfusions to survive.
“I lost my daughter and son because they needed blood transfusions to survive, but there was no money to buy the blood, and they died,” he added.
“Nollywood never helped me.” They haven’t been touched, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care. “Let it be said that way,” he continued.
